There were some surprising nods and omissions after it was revealed this morning who the 2023 Oscar nominations are.
Aussies have nine nominations all up, with eight of those for Baz Luhrmann’s biopic Elvis.
They include one for best picture, one for the film’s costume designer Catherine Martin, the producers are up for three of those nominations along with Mandy Walker the cinematographer on the film.

The producers have released a statement this morning to say “For many of us, bringing Elvis to the screen has been a more than 10-year journey”.
Jamie Lee Curtis has been nominated for best supporting actress for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once – it’s hard to believe this is her first ever Oscar nomination.
And her co-star Michelle Yeoh is up against Cate Blanchett for best actress.
Blanchett is up for her movie Tar and this would be her third Oscar if she wins.
